This leading company is seeking to recruit a highly motivated Senior Operations Manager to plan, manage and develop the operation for various niche sectors in a fast moving service industry. This will include driver management, recruitment and process control. With your Section Managers you will ensure that daily operational productivity, quality, health & safety and cost targets are met as per the required departmental budgets and with appropriate vehicle planning, and performance monitoring you will ensure excellent customer service at all times.
The role:
To increase sales through excellent customer service, both at the front end through the drivers, and using key skills with people and data management to meet our customer needs.
Monitor new business and supply leads to Business Development manager whilst ensuring follow up procedures are in place for the growth of new customer accounts.
Ensure driver availability at all times thus avoiding loss of sales by actively carrying out ongoing recruitment activities as required.
Accountable for recruitment of drivers through management and coordination of the operations team to drive as necessary to promote customer loyalty.
To allocate drivers according to competency rating in order to achieve the most cost effective service for the customer whilst still maximizing company profit.
Ensure all drivers qualify and achieve the Abby Standard via the company customer service & courier NVQ level 2 training course.
Develop drivers to full potential through careful and monitored placement on appropriate customer accounts leading to increased driver performance whilst ensuring customer expectations are still met.
Manage the transfer and integration of new contracts into the existing network and further develop client relationships in order to expand existing contracts.
Manage, develop and motivate the existing operations team, ensuring that all parties are working together to provide highest levels of service within given timescales to satisfy customer needs.
Responsible for compliance of legal documentation for drivers and vehicles to meet legislation criteria.
Responsible for health and safety compliance for both drivers and vehicles.
Manage, monitor and control costs for the operations dept keeping within designated budgets.
Report to Directors on a regular basis at the senior management meetings providing essential statistics on sales profiles, customer satisfaction levels and driver performance.
Reconcile customer sales to driver costs weekly leading to the calculation of GP for the operations dept and then present at senior management meetings accordingly.
Implement and maintain effective quality procedures including a new customer care and complaints policy.
Ensure customer service level agreements are met.
Continually develop and monitor procedures and processes, to ensure an efficient and effective operation.
Ensure effective staff training as required by the needs of the business, the senior management and HR.
Ensure Company Health and Safety Policies and Procedures are followed, seeking assistance as required.

Ability to multi task and manage conflicting priorities.
CPC registered holder with knowledge of dangerous hazardous goods.
Ability to think strategically and work individually or as part of a team.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience of managing other managers to effectively run operations at a national level.
Driving license and car essential.

Hours:
45+ per week, 5 days over 6, between 6am & 6pm
Salary:
£35,000 per annum with incentive bonus scheme and Private Medical Insurance
